Hi Alikah! I earned my Bachelor of Science in Special Education from Coppin State University after completing my Associate of Arts in Teacher Education at the Community College of Baltimore County. I am currently pursuing my Master of Science in Counseling Psychology at the University of Baltimore. My professional background includes working as a special educator in Baltimore County and serving as a Family Program Manager with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

I bring over a decade of experience in education, mental health advocacy, and community support into my clinical work. My time as a special educator strengthened my ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds and to navigate complex emotional, social, and behavioral needs with patience, clarity, and compassion. I am known for my consistent presence, thoughtful communication, and dedication to creating emotionally safe spaces where people feel seen, heard, and supported in their growth.

I have experience working with individuals across the lifespan using person-centered and grounded approaches. My clinical interests include anxiety and depression, life transitions and identity development, relationship stress, ADHD/ADD, PTSD and PMDD, and empowerment-based support. I especially enjoy working with members of the LGBTQI+ community, individuals exploring gender identity, and those managing mild to moderate mood concerns. My therapeutic approach draws from person-centered therapy, Adlerian therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy.

My commitment to mental health extends beyond the therapy room. As a long-standing volunteer and member of NAMI, I have served as a Peer-to-Peer mentor and “In Our Own Voice” presenter, sharing my lived experience to support others on their recovery journeys. Through this work, I have developed strong skills in psychoeducation, group facilitation, advocacy, and using personal narrative as a meaningful tool for healing and empowerment. My therapeutic style balances warmth with gentle challenge, supporting clients in exploring their inner world while also developing practical skills to enhance daily functioning.

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy watching documentaries and films based on true stories, and I will occasionally indulge in a season of Love Is Blind. I stay active with daily walks alongside my 7-year-old chihuahua, Jaxx. When time allows, I enjoy hot yoga and roller skating as ways to recharge. Creative outlets like diamond dotting, adult coloring, and music help me maintain balance, and I am currently embracing the joys and challenges of becoming a plant parent as I grow my green thumb one plant at a time.
