Hi, I’m Makaela. I am passionate about supporting children, young adults, and families as they navigate emotional, behavioral, and relational challenges. I hold a Bachelor of Social Work from Morgan State University and am currently pursuing graduate studies in Counseling Psychology at the University of Baltimore. Originally from Connecticut and now rooted in Maryland, my work is grounded in culturally responsive, strengths-based care that supports emotional, mental, and social well-being.

For over a decade, I have worked closely with children and adolescents, helping to foster confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of self-worth. I am deeply committed to ensuring that every child and family I work with feels seen, heard, and valued. My professional background in social work, education, and community engagement has shaped my approach, allowing me to bring honesty, trust, and a consistently supportive presence into each therapeutic relationship.

I care deeply about walking alongside individuals during difficult moments, whether they are coping with emotional struggles, behavioral concerns, family stress, or the impact of medical conditions such as blood or immune disorders. I also support adults, couples, and men who are seeking greater understanding, connection, and emotional balance. Many of the clients I work with feel misunderstood or overwhelmed, and are searching for support that feels genuine, steady, and compassionate.

As a first-generation American from a West Indian family, I hold a strong appreciation for culture, identity, and resilience. My goal is to create a space where you can feel safe to be fully yourself — free from judgment and supported in your growth. Whether it is a child learning to manage big emotions, a family strengthening communication, or an individual working toward self-confidence and healing, I strive to help each person move toward hope, self-understanding, and lasting well-being.

I bring warmth, presence, and a heart for service to my work. I would be honored to walk alongside you as you navigate challenges, build on your strengths, and move toward a more grounded and fulfilling future.
