Hi, I’m Mavis! I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Johns Hopkins University. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with Honors and a minor in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. My academic background, along with a deep interest in human behavior and emotional well-being, shapes my compassionate and holistic approach to mental health care.

Originally from China, I bring a culturally informed perspective to my work. I understand how identity, family dynamics, language, and societal expectations can deeply influence mental health and the ways people experience healing. I believe that everyone deserves a space where they can feel fully heard, seen, and supported, especially during times of transition, uncertainty, or emotional pain.

I am particularly passionate about integrating mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches into therapy, helping individuals reconnect with themselves in grounded and compassionate ways. At the same time, I tailor my work to each person’s unique needs and pace, meeting clients where they are with empathy, openness, and respect.

Beyond my clinical training, I enjoy exploring insight through literature, Tarot, and astrology. I am fascinated by the ways we seek meaning through both science and symbolism, and how these tools can support deeper self-understanding and personal growth. In my free time, I find joy in reading, journaling, and connecting with nature, practices that help me stay grounded and present in both my life and my work with clients.
